Style Change for 2017/18

For the on- and off-seasons in 2016 and 2016/17, TVRRoundup worked weekly, discussing each episode of each show followed that aired each week. But - and excitingly for me - I'm off travelling from January to April, so I'm going to miss the entire back half of the 2017/18 season.

   The problem with that is shows such as:

1. Deception, Quantico and Reverie (all airing midseason)
2. The second half of season 8 of The Walking Dead
3. Along with the second half of every full-season show (Bull, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Lucifer, NCIS LA, Quantico and Scorpion, and potentially The Orville and The Good Doctor)
4. And season 6 of Wentworth (which will probably be halfway through airing when I return from my travels)

will be missed until I'm back.

   In an attempt to lessen the impact of this, I'm going to switch up the TVRRoundup style. Instead of reviewing each week's episodes, I'll review just a sample of the episodes each week, and as short, individual roundups. This means that only a percentage of the episodes of each show will be reviewed, not every single episode as when reviewed weekly.

   This also means there'll be no "Best Episode" or "Best Quote" of the Week (though I'll make an effort to include any outstanding one-liners if I feel they're exceptional enough).

EXCEPTIONS

1. Premiere episodes are an obvious exception to this rule - they'll all be reviewed as early as possible. Can't start reviewing a new season or series without talking about where they begin.
2. Black Mirror and the first half of The Walking Dead season 8 will be reviewed in full (the former has only 6 episodes to review, while the latter just 8).

SHOWS LEAVING TVRROUNDUP

Of the shows reviewed last season, the following will be dropped from TVRRoundup for the coming season - due to time constraints, and/or lack of quality - and are as follows:

1. Elementary
2. Hawaii Five-0
3. MacGyver
4. Westworld

PLAN FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

The three shows debuting midseason (Deception, Quantico and Reverie [and also Wentworth, which will come in near the end of the season]) will be reviewed upon my return; as the latter three are or are expected to be deeply complex shows, their seasons shall be reviewed in their entirety.

The second half of the seasons for our full-season shows will also be reviewed upon my return. They will all follow the above structure of short, individual roundups for a percentage of their episodes.

Final thoughts

So those are the changes coming to TVRRoundup this season. I'm excited to try out this new format, although I'm more excited for the coming season! With just over a month until the season begins, my pre-season roundups will be on the way, describing new shows and predicting their successes!
